So, England once again go out of a major tournament on penalties. OK, we didn’t play fantastic in the World cup until Wayne Rooney got sent off for treading on a different kind of ball, but the last 57 minutes of the England - Portugal match and we showed out class to stop them scoring against a 10 man side. But as always seems to happen to the England team it came down to penalties. It seams, although my not be totally acurate that all the bit games that I’ve seen in tournaments have come down to spot kicks. And as usual we lost. Why do they have to have them. Maynbe if they just played on after extra time we could win. Oh well, another two years and we will all think that we can win the euro championships until we meet Portugal in the 1/4 finals AGAIN and loose on penalties.

Like most of Europe at the moment, I am gripped with football fever. In my hometown, my house is about 100 metres from my local football ground. Even so, I don’t go to games and am only interested if we are about to be relegated or promoted from our league. But when England play international matches, my fiance can’t get me away from the television. Why is this? I haven’t worked it out yet. All i can think of is that I’m caught up in some kind of national pride and feel it is my duty to will our football team onto victory.
So far this is working, we made it through our group in the world cup. Displayed a good will to beat Ecudor in the last 16 and now we come to Portugal. This team is our bogey team. We lost to them in the European championships 2 years ago (which incidently was the first date I had with my partner). Can we turn this around and beat the team who’s manager doesn’t want to be part of the England team even though he was asked. Lets hope so.
To all the players who i’m sure are reading this (hey gotta hope) Good luck on Saturday, I believe we can get to the semi finals…
